Thank you all for the words and thoughts.

Kevin was ill before the 12/30/05 wedding, but was in good shape on that day.

When I picked them up at the airport from their honeymoon, my daughter was pushing him in a wheelchair! My youngest son and I wound up helping Alex set up her house (thankfully they bought one near us) and cope with a new home in the middle of what became wekly in and out of hospitals.

We're moving past the whole thing, but it has been and still is hard. Kevin not only was Alex's husband, but my oldest son's closest friend, and had been part of our family since he was 13.

Hugh

My daughter's bried marriage was probably the worst 6 months of my life . . . watching Kevin die, and Alex (who is a microbiologist and so knew too much) try to work to save him.
Kevin's slide started on their honeymoon

There simply can't be anything worse than watching someone so close slip away. And then so soon after starting a life together. My deepest sympathy to Alex and to you and your entire family Hugh.

  Gale
