Hi Fred.

I am no expert but I think this will be close to correct.  There are the
usual consumer laws which include a cooling off period for unsolicited
purchases.  I think it might be ten days.  Before I left they were talking
about an opt out list where you could specify that you do not want calls
from telemarketers.  If you are listed and you receive calls then there can
be penalties.  The only problem is that this is an Australian law and (I
think) it will have little or no effect as, like Hugh says, most of the
calls come from off shore.
