That teacher (Barbara Morgan) who just flew into Space is a ham radio operator (KD5VNP, http://www.qrz.com/callsign/KD5VNP).  Also, another one of the crew is KC5ZTE (http://www.qrz.com/callsign/KC5ZTE).   Did you know that the first ham radio satellite (OSCAR 1, OSCAR (Orbital Satellite Carrying Amateur Radio) was the first satellite that was not owned by the government that made it into space?
