I wasn't born here, but I'm not here to run for office.

As your resident New Yorker (born and still here):
* New Yorkers ride subways. They are faster, cheaper, and safer.
* New Yorkers who use surface transportation take cabs. You just step off
the curb and raise your hand.
* Airport to town is either a) a cab (real one . . . yellow with Russian or
Asian driver) or the shuttle bus from LGA; cab or the train from JFK: the
train from EWR.

(Bill:)
Be sure to use only the legitimate Yellow (actually orange) with medallion
numbers. Others may be unlicensed "gypsy" cabs in questionable condition with
even more questionable drivers.
Thanks for the advise Bill. Next time for sure. One takes their life in
their hands just riding in a cab, registered or not. My sister has not lived
in NYC all that long, but now thinks of herself as a native New Yorker.
Hardly!!!
Limos can be good deals for groups but watch out for the unmarked vans
because I've had a couple of unpleasant experiences with them despite catching
them at the LGA airport and the Sheraton Towers.
Fool that I am, I said I'd pay for our next "cab" ride. My brother in law
called down for a cab and the Limo showed up. I silently growled when I saw
that. Ahhhhhhhhh, live and learn. Next visit we stick to the subways.
Another adventure to look forward to. :)
Gale
