Many years ago I worked in the artifact storage area of the Kings Landing Historical Settlement in New Brunswick when it was just being established.  One of the curators, from a long line of country folk, was always bringing "treats" in for us to try.  One day it was his home made, "non-alcoholic" ginger beer - we all chugged it down with great gusto during lunch and had a  very mellow afternoon!!!  I recall my friend Jeri and I deciding we should taste all the grasses and leaves in the surrounding fields - and Marlowe having a great laugh at our expense!  We should have noticed he wasn't drinking any!!
