The troops aren't responsible for the war, and anything to make them more comfortable should be done.
I think the response from the mat company was uncalled for. Whether the person who was let go was responsible for the decision or whether it came from his superiors will probably never be known, he could have been the sacrificial lamb so to speak to try and save the reputation of the company. If he made that response on his or her own without his superiors knowledge, then letting him or her go was warranted IMO.
It would seem to me that the military could furnish some type of mat for these troops who are in the worse regions as this one is described. I guess it's a budget thing. Budgets don't care if you sleep on the ground.
I'm Linda, I was on this list for a few years and dropped out. I find myself with some time on my hands, and was interested in discussions as always.
I lived in Tennessee most of my life but moved to Western New York a couple of years ago. This is my third winter here. I have to say the winters took some getting used too.
