We have caller id plus an answering machine to monitor and filter out 
telemarketers, etc. We're also on the US national Do Not Call list.  The 
answering machine also has the blocked call disconnect option engaged. 
Despite these efforts we still receive calls from stubborn sources.  Picking 
up then instantly hanging up helps sometimes but not always so I resort to 
my bigger gun.
My Big Gun is to hold down one of the number keys on a standard desk Touch 
Tone phone then pick up the handset.  This sends out the very loud number 
code to sock it to the fool with the fancy one piece headset who's making 
the annoying call.

Ain't I so mean to the low paid murgatroyd odered to make these calls but 
dammit they're irritating time wasting intrusions.
