[Mishmash] Box Trapper

Dick,

    That's what I found out.

I'm going to give Box Trapper a whirl, though. If it doesn't work out, I can always disable it.

I'm actually running both of them right now.

The amount of SPAM I am getting has dropped.

There was a big jump in SPAM when I moved to my new mailserver on my hosting site until I enabled the SPAM protection.

A few things still get through. But it's much, much less.

    Regards,

                                                                            Fred

  Fred,

One of my ISPs (I have several) also puts [SPAM] in front of suspicious email. If you're using an email program like Eudora, which I use, you can set filters to pick out any email with that string (or anything else) in any header, the body, etc. and "process" it. I have it tossed into a separate junk directory where I can quickly review what's there for usefulness and then do a mass delete. You can also send it directly to the trash can if you prefer. This procedure is not as effective as Box Trapper, but you don't run as much risk of losing stuff you actually want to read.

    Folks,

I've moved my personal Web site (mishmash.com) to a new mailserver. When I did, I got nailed with SPAM because the old SPAM protection (which was pretty good, actually) is no longer in place.

The new site I am on has two SPAM protection methods. The first one I tried is called SpamAssassin. But all it does is put the tag [SPAM] in front of your messages. It doesn't get rid of it.

So I've just activated Box Trapper. When you next email me, you will get an email asking you to confirm. Just hit 'reply' and it will put you right through. And you only have to do this once. Once you do that, all of your messages will be put right through to me.

I'd ask each one of you to send a test message to me at fatkinson at mishmash.com. When you get the email from Box Trapper asking you to confirm, all you do is hit 'Reply' and then 'Send'.

That way, I can get all of your email addresses in my whitelist very quickly.

        Regards,
