I don't understand why it's unacceptable to eat something that's been killed
by
a car (assuming it's freshly killed, and not something that's been sitting
out
there all day) but perfectly OK to eat something you've shot. At least with
road kill you don't risk your choppers biting into a piece of buckshot.

In Michigan you can take the critter home. But you have to call the police
and report it. And then there's the fun of gutting the animal. That may be
the single biggest reason I never felt the urge to hunt. I have a weak
constitution in that area. But with deer it has to be done right away.
Apparently the meat spoils very quickly if you don't.
I went 54 years without hitting a deer and then 2 years in a row i hit one.
Both times, I never even touched my brakes. They were flying off my bumper
and into the ditch before I knew what was going on. The 2nd time the hit
didn't kill the deer and he sat up in the ditch and watched me. The officer who
responded was going to put the animal out of his misery, but I left before
that happened. The guilt of the animal staring at me was enough as it was.
