I understand the legal reasons for requiring drivers who've killed a 
deer to turn in the carcass, Fred.  I understood (perhaps 
incorrectly) the original comment to say that it was considered 
unsanitary to eat road kill, rather than merely illegal, and I was 
replying to that thought.  I have no doubt that some "sportsmen" will 
take a deer any way they can get it, legal or otherwise.
