I once hit a kookaburra out behind Goulburn. I stopped and inspected it and
found it still alive. I brought it back to the car and sat it on my then
wife's knee. It progressively revived and we both realised that they have a
very big and frightening bill. It remained well behave though. I drove to
the ranger station at Wombeyan caves. He was no help at all so we brought
it back to Canberra. It was winter and I thought it would die if I released
it straight away. The bird slept on the kitchen table and seemed fully
recovered in the morning so I released him into the local bush.

Cheers

David

I don't think anyone feels good after hitting any bird or animal it is
always a dreadful feeling.

I have a friend who checks dead kangaroos out to see if they have babies in
the pouches and if they are still alive tries to save them. She has two
wallabies on her front lawn at the moment. She has saved many babies.
