Re: [Mishmash] Can it really be?????In case nobody has noticed, I don't think much of the crap we manage to elect and send to our federal and state governments.

I actually have as my idea model one where the president is from one party, and the two houses of congress have a majority of one from the other. I figure that way they can yell and scream at each other for four years, and while they might cost us a bunch of money at least they will get nothing done which means less pain for us.

That is actually what Ive come to call the Ben Miller school of government. Ben was a management professor at St. John's back in my undergraduate days, and held the theory that we should give the entire legislative part of government a few years off . .  .we have enough laws on the books and would do better if we just concentrated on making those we have work rather than passing new ones.
