[Mishmash] Time Warner Links Web Prices With Usage

Dick,

    You have been fortunate.

We have Comcast here in Atlanta. They are the pits. They have an
attitude problem.

When I first moved in, we were only getting 300 kbps on the
download. It took three visits from a tech and a call to the county
government franchise office (to escalate it) before they finally tried
the most obvious approach. They (shhh) changed out the modem. The
problem immediately cleared.

The landlord was getting calls from the dispatch supervisor saying
that they would not come out because they 'had already been out there
too many times'. He neglected to remind the jerk that they came out
three times because it took an escalation to the county franchise office
before they would swap the cablemodem when they should have tried that
up front.

We have quality problems on channels. There are several channels on
the cable that have no sound. I've complained and been told that
because I'm not using a cable box (my television is cable ready), that
there was nothing they could do about it.

Their people don't seem to know what they are doing. They have
given me incorrect information more times than once.

If we had FIOS here, I'd see about getting it in a minute.

The only real competition that Comcast has down here in Atlanta is
AT&T DSL. The satellite Internet just doesn't get it. I recommend that
satellite Internet be kept as a last resort. There is about a quarter
of a second delay each way (which can become annoying on real time
communications) and it is subject to fading when it becomes overcast or
when bad weather sets in.

However, Time Warner is even worse.

    Regards,

                                                                Fred
