[Mishmash] Departure to New Mexico / Emma Sansom

Folks,

    I am making the move to New Mexico next week.  And I have a busy
week even before I leave.

    I have to drive a small truck to NC to meet the movers at my storage
room (and of course I have to load my things on that truck).  Once they
have my things packed, I'll be driving back to Georgia.  From there,
I'll load my computer and personal items into the car and depart on July
3.

    It turns into a four day drive to Las Cruces.  I'll be stopping over
in Jackson, Missippi for the night (I used to work in Jackson for a few
weeks when SkyTel was flying me there weekly while I was in graduate
school in Maryland.  I know the good places to eat in Jackson).

    I'll be spending my second night on the road in Longview, Texas.
Longview is only a short drive from Gilmer, Texas (where Emma Sansom is
buried, whom I've spoken about on Mishmash in the past).  I plan to stop
and photograph her grave as well as go to their courthouse lawn and
photograph a marker there that was placed in her memory (it calls her
the
'sunbonnet heroine of the South).  I'll certainly share those shots with
you.

    I'll be spending my last night on the road in Midland, Texas.  From
there, it will be a days drive to Las Cruces.  I've found a very nice
place with good weekly rates to stay in until I find a permanent place
to live.

    I will miss having the convenience to run to Gadsden when something
arises regarding class reunions or other activities related to the
history of Emma Sansom High School.

    But I will be in touch.
