[Mishmash] Fw: Veteran Thank You

Carole,

Bill is correct. My father served in WWII as did an aunt and uncle
of mine.

My aunt and uncle met in the Navy while on active duty during WWII.

My father served in the Army Air Corp (which later became an
independent branch of the service that is today known as the Air Force)
at Le Borge, France. He was a paper pusher for an experimental air
evacuation squadron.

Dad had (he passed away about a month ago, by the way) quite a story
to tell about WWII. You can read it at
http://www.mishmash.com/glennmiller .

My aunt told a story about while she was on duty one night. There
were some rather large crates that were being guarded by generals. When
she came into the building where she went on duty, the generals told
her, "keep walking, sister" and she proceded past them to her duty
station. It is her belief (though it was never confirmed) that they
were guarding the atomic bomb. Why else would generals be guarding
something in crates? Apparently, they didn't trust just anybody to
guard them.

    Regards,

                                                                    Fred

Thank you very much Carole. My Dad was a U.S. Navy Veteran who saw
action in the sky and on both oceans. One or my wife's uncles served in
the Army Air Corps in the Pacific and the other in Europe. None of
these men ever said much about the war but everyone was aware of their
hardships.

BTW Fred's father also was in the middle of WWII.
