The Democratic party is much as the Liberal party here in Canada - a socalist foundation.  However, we do still get to claim our Canada Pension Plan contributions on our income tax but they've fiddled around with it so it winds up you only get a small percentage of it applied to reduce tax payable.

There's a  $100 per month per child allotment that parents get from the government that I strongly object to.  To my mind, if you can't afford children, don't have them but don't have them and then expect me to pay for them through my taxes!  However, on the flip side of that coin, I remember my mother waiting every month for the "Baby Bonus" (as it was then) to arrive so she could get clothes for us or school supplies. But now everyone with children gets it, it isn't based on income

Anyway, my particular rant against Canada's socialist system.

BTW, I heard on Fox News the other day that in Canada we have to wait 6 months for a colonoscopy.  I'd like to know where that eutopian province is - I had to wait three YEARS to the month to have the procedure done.
