[Mishmash] Obama? Oh, Please!

No problem, Fred....as you well know, South Carolina is a Republican stronghold, so I'm vastly outnumbered.
I don't agree with everything Obama is doing, but do think he will do a good job in turning this country around. After the last eight years, it could not get much worse.
No, I abhored Bush and his dictatorial handling of the presidency.
"Gush" Limbaugh is one of my least favorite people in the world, along with Bill O'Reilly, Glen Beck and Sean Hannity. We stopped watching Fox news several years ago.
Whatever happens in the next 4-8 years, I do know most of our troops will be out of Iraq and, hopefully, back home with their families. This war is the biggest travesty of our lifetime. We do need to send more troops to Afghanistan, but I doubt it helps. Look how long the Russians tried to defeat them and finally gave up and withdrew.
There is no magic wand to change the economy overnight or, as you said, in the next few years. It took eight years of undoing regulation of the banking and investment industy to accomplish this recession. It will probably take twice that amount of time to rebuild our economy.
Obama is a dedicated husband and father, is highly intelligent, a good listener (something Bush never did), and has the best interests of this country at heart. He will make mistakes, but at the same time, he will implement health care for those who do not have it, lower taxes, no taxes for retirees, stem cell research, and diplomatic outreach to the Middle East.
So let's watch the new administration as it stumbles, and, at times, exceeds our expectations. At least he is taking action domestically and internationally where it is much needed.
We all have our own opinions, and I highly respect this. So we just agree to disagree and remain friends.

Linda,
I can't go with you on this.
So far, he's OK'd openly gay behavior in the military which will make a lot of heterosexual people (who would make great soldiers) not want to serve in the military, wants to hand out more millions of dollars (which is socialism), and gotten angry with the press for doing their job in trying to find out about his administration (that is what they are supposed to do). As I recall, it was a very simple question he was asked that set him off.
He is also telling people who to listen to and who not to. Now, I am not a fan of Rush Limbaugh (I think he's an obnoxious attention seeker), but the President has no business telling people who to listen to and who not to. I see a relationship akin to a cult leader, to tell you the truth.
The liberal press was spending so much time on their hate agenda for Bush that they haven't investigated to find out who Obama really is. I think we have some more suprises ahead of us in that category.
Now, I'll admit I wasn't happy with Bush for starting this free handout program (even the porn industry was trying to get some of the money, now how ridiculous is that?), but that seems to be Obama's objective nevertheless. This is going to be worse than Jimmy Carter's time in office. We are still recovering from Bill Clinton's stupidity. And now we are going to let Obama make things worse.
The liberal press has everyone believing that Obama can simply wave his hand and within his first one hundred days in office will have us well on the road to recovery. Well, it just isn't going to happen. If we leave it up to Obama, we won't even have made a dent in it by the end of his presidency. I suspect that in four years that we are going to dump him the same way we dumpted Jimmy Carter. I just hope there is a strong Ronald Reagan type to run against him.
Obama's election is going to be a disaster for this country.
How many of you have read Chuck Norris' new book entitled, 'Blackbelt Patriotism' (http://www.regnery.com/books/blackbelt.html)? No, it is not about martial arts. The title is just an attention getter. It is his ideas for what you and I need to do to get this country back on track. I found myself disagreeing with very little of what he said.
I always admired Chuck Norris for his martial arts. But I never had any idea he was such a brilliant writer and had ideas that were so far on track. After reading his book, I would vote for him in a heartbeat if he ran for Congress in my state.
Yes, I am a conservative. But I am not ultraconservative.
Regards,
Fred
