Subject: [Mishmash] The King's Speech
Folks,
I just finished sitting through a remarkable film entitled, 'The
King's Speech'.
It was about King George VI. He had a speech impediment that he had
to overcome in order to lead his people through World War II.
It is a true story. He was treated by a speech therapist that his
wife chased down before he became king. He did not know until he was
about to ascend the throne that his therapist wasn't a doctor at
all. He had treated a bunch of Australians that were returning from
the first World War and had developed motor speech problems while
they were fighting the war. He learned all of his methods 'on the fly'.
He was at King George VI's side at every wartime speech during the
war.
Remarkable, isn't it, that the common man is sometimes the greatest
man behind the scenes?
On a scale of one to ten, I'll give it a twelve.
This is one you should really see.
Regards,
Fred, WB4AEJ
