Folks,
There is a piece of malware running around called 'win 7 home
security 2011'.
Look out. It will sucker you. It will tell you that your computer
is infected (the only thing that is probably infecting your computer
is 'win 7 home security 2011').
It will tell you that you need to purchase their software to remove
all of the many threats (the many threats are legitimate files in
your system).
My Sunday School teacher was taken by this. Fortunately, she had
something like LifeLock. They shut down her credit card immediately
and protected her. Otherwise she might have been out a bunch of money.
Don't fall for it.
It just showed up on my PC. I'm trying to find a way to remove
it. So far, McAfee wants ninety dollars to do it. And others want
me to download and install their software. That makes me a little nervous.
Has anyone found a way of removing it that works and doesn't require
downloading and running other software to fix it?
Regards,
Fred
